Those pesky iPhone Users, pissed off about AT&T network lag and the recent threat from the company to punish customers have been urged to Take Down AT&T this Friday. The mission is dubbed Operation Chokehold, and it’s designed to encourage iPhone owners to use the most data-intensive apps for a full hour starting at 12 p.m. PST, 3 p.m. EST on Friday, December, 18, 2009. The ultimate goal being to bring down the network and “send the message to AT&T that they are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments.
Apparently, AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega’s recent remarks concerning the carrier’s plans to “incentivize” mobile data hogs to cut back on their usage rates aren’t sitting well with AT&T customers. You can read more about this movement where it all started! Will it work, or will it just give AT&T more justification to start punishing the users of the data hungry iPhone? I’m not worried as I’m on Sprint and will not be affected in anyway, but do I love a good fight. As much as I hate Apple and the iPhone, I sure will enjoy watching AT&T brought to their knees. This is unlikely however since most I imagine it will do is crap out the network for an hour or two. Should be interesting to see what response, if any, comes from AT&T.
